“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
So far in 2013 our volunteers have outdone themselves! With help from Dave they have built 2 incredible seasonal cabins! These cabins have screened walls and comfy bunkbeds. Built up on picnic hill, these cabins are already favorites among camp counselors and even a some campers as tehy had the chance to sleep out in them during session 5! Other volunteers have planted trees, built mountain bike trail, painted, stained and much more!
In 2012, Volunteers at Waycross logged over 3700 hours of work on projects ranging from bridge building to envelope stuffing!
Over the course of half a century, Waycross has grown to become an important center for leadership development and personal and spiritual growth. Summer campers and program participants acquire new skills, find quiet time to contemplate their lives, and renew their connection with Nature and Spirit in Waycross’ contemplative and secluded natural setting. For so many, who come here from nearby or who travel long distances to reach it, Waycross has become an open door to a community where they belong, an anchor in their lives, and a place to come home.
A vibrant tradition of giving and volunteerism is at the heart of Waycross’ success in maintaining its exceptional spiritual and leadership services. Every year over 150 committed volunteers contribute thousands of hours of service to Waycross. There are opportunities throughout the year of every kind for acquiring new job skills in a comfortable and positive atmosphere, while engaging in humanitarian community service.
A few hours a week or month can make a difference in the ministry of Waycross. Volunteers provide services that inspire spiritual growth, grow leadership skills, and reduce the stress of every day life.
Volunteers have been involved in projects ranging from picnic table construction to trail building; and office work to gardening. From youth to seniors, Waycross invites you to explore the possibilities of making a difference by volunteering.
